Every year, our talented students participate various art contests and Expressions is one of those contests.

Expressions was established by Walgreens to educate, empower and equip young people and their communities with insights and resources on issues impacting teens. Since 2009, Expressions by Walgreens has reached approximately one million high school students and awarded more than $375,000 in monetary prizes. More than 500 organizations, high schools, teachers and parents have participated in the program since its inception.

Our students always have shown amazing results from Expressions. In this year, L. Lee (11th grade, Portfolio Art Class) is nominated as the first place and G. Kim (9th grade, Supplemental Portfolio Art Class) is nominated as the third place in Expressions by Walgreens!

L. Lee who got the 1st place in the contest said,

“I’m very excited to be receiving first place in the Expressions Challenge. I wanted to voice my opinions on gun control in the U.S. because it is a big issue today. I put focus on school shootings specifically because I am constantly watching these shootings on the news and it’s scary seeing that nothing is being done about it. I am so thankful for this opportunity and Songhi teacher for the help and support!”

Congratulations L. Lee and G. Kim! We are so proud of you all!
